Chasing Bass and Carp on the local ponds

- Warm Water Action -
When the summer heats up and the trout start to hide in the cool deep pools, we are fortunate to have ample warm water fishing opportunities on the local ponds.

Matt's Troutdoors Productions but together a nice video about targeting these great fish on the fly.

 Enjoy the action!

    1. Hey Mark,

Yes, you turned us on to that carp water. The place is loaded with them but they are hard to see in the murk. Wonder of that water ever clears a bit. Perhaps some Zebra Mussels would do the trick ;-)

    2. That lake is well known for the turbidity. Its clearer early in the spring, but pretty much stays turbid all year long. It is caused by suspended (micro)-algae. Its a very shallow lake; and that combined with all of those pretty lawns (Nitrogen and Phosphorus) makes for soup.

Historically, the lake produced large panfish. MassWildlife used to stock it with musky too. I have yet to catch anything but a few carp.

    3. I've seen some good sized largemouths being pulled from that lake, but bait seems to work best. I'll have to check it again in early spring.

It's also good to get content for the blog from my son ;-)

    1. Thanks, Howard. I prefer cool mountain streams, but it's nice to have productive warm water close to home.
